This visit to Point View Reserve ticked off a few things for me - the joy of taking a radio out to an interesting place to make contacts and admire the natural and man-made beauty around us.
Point View Reserve has some spectacular views and interesting infrastructure to look at, including the WareCare East Tamaki Reservoir, earthquake and volcano monitoring equipment, and lots of antennas!
While I was there, I placed myself at the trig and spoke to ZL1RKO Charles, based on Waiheke Island, on the Musick Point repeater.
This visit started a bunch of new interests/obsessions for me; and the rest is history...
