This ferry was a trial service in an attempt to resolve the issue of the Wynyard Crossing Bridge being broken for an extended period of time while replacement parts were sourced.


The ferry was free and was run for a couple of weekends to gauge its effectiveness. The idea ended up getting implemented, and you can now ride the ferry for free any day of the week! (until the bridge is fixed.....Auckland Council....)

P.S. It's a very short trip and takes longer to board and disembark than the actual trip. In my opinion, just walk around the Viaduct, it's probably quicker.
